MCB Backstage

Pictures from the past two weekends that the Missouri Contemporary Ballet has been performing. I'm trying to get more backstage, "moment" pictures and lay off of the dancing pictures for a while. I've decided that dance pictures are like potato chips: you can't eat just one! I keep thinking I'll get the image right and in focus if I take "just one more."

I really enjoy 7, 14, and 15, mostly for their use of light and composition. 15 also has great interaction. When looking at 8, it almost seems as though they are dancing while just sitting there.

Thanks for looking, Kevin. Yes, there's something about dancers that I find them interesting/dynamic/beautiful almost no matter what they are doing; even if they are in a resting position they look better than the rest of us! Maybe it's their awareness of their bodies or general presence, not sure.

Clare, these are great! I love the light on the three where the dancers cast shadows on that golden wall/drape whatever it is. and the one of them all sitting on the bench eating fro-yo is perfect!

Thanks, Mito! The dramatic lighting was fun to play with. And that was fro-yo, good guess! Thanks for looking. Hear you are doing some great things at NPR--
