Various and Sundry

Pictures from the last few days or so plus a straggler from Halloween. The Halloween parade had no light save the streetlights here and there, so I waited for a firetruck to come by, which provided the light on the girl's face. The tuba picture is from a German dinner--I love the instrument's slightly dented, vintage look.

Some selects from some work I did today--more to come. Halloween seems to be a huge holiday here with parades in many small towns.

A Day's Work

Some selects from yesterday's assignments. I love that about journalism--in the space of a few hours, I got to go to a powerlifting event (that's 700 lbs in that picture), a Tea Party rally, and a late afternoon parade.

I got an assignment to cover a charity walk that a nine-year-old girl created to help her mom, who has cervical cancer. Over 500 people turned out for the actual walk, then friends and family walked past the hospital so she could see them out the window and joined her up in her room. This was a moment near the end of that phenomenal day.
